Job Safety Guidelines
Practical steps to recognise recruitment scams, verify employers and protect your money, identity and documents.
Never pay to get a job
Genuine employers do not charge application, interview, training, uniform, visa-processing, medical or placement fees. Any request for payment is a strong warning sign; stop and report it.
Common warning signs
Offers without an interview; unusually high salaries for little experience; pressure to decide immediately; poor grammar or generic emails; free email addresses instead of company domains; requests to move to private messaging apps; cheque or money-transfer tasks; and requests to buy equipment or gift cards.
Verify the employer
Check the company profile, verified badge, reviews, website and official contact details. Search the company independently. A verified badge confirms documents were reviewed but does not replace your own judgement.
Protect your documents
Share passport, Emirates ID, visa or certificates only with verified employers at an appropriate hiring stage, preferably through Jobcod. Consider adding a watermark noting the purpose and date. Never send original documents.
Protect your finances and accounts
Never share bank passwords, card PINs, security codes or Jobcod sign-in codes. Jobcod staff will never ask for your password or a code.
Interview safety
Prefer video calls or meetings at official company premises in public business hours. Tell someone where you are going and verify the address beforehand.
Overseas job offers
Confirm work permits and visas are issued by official authorities, read your contract before travel and never surrender your passport to an employer.
Report and get help
Use Report on any job or company, keep screenshots of messages and payments, and contact Jobcod support. If you have lost money or documents, contact your bank and local police; in the UAE you can also use official cybercrime reporting channels.
